Starting as just a small group of interested Catholic men, the Knights of Columbus was formed after much work and preparation by Pastor Father Eckhoff, the K of C Insurance Representative, Tony Day, and District Deputy of the Knights of Columbus, Hilary Schmittzehe, the new council was formed and assigned number 5898.
Since many of the members were engaged in farming, the council selected St. Isidore, Patron of Farmers, as the name of the new council.
The new Council quickly found that they would have to find a home of their own. On September 26, 1967, The St. Isidore Home Association purchased a tract of land from William Spooler. The property where the K of C Hall is now located. The first building was erected in 1968.
